For a Central North Carolina BBQ sauce, combine 1-2 tablespoons of our Central North Carolina Style Seasoning, Rub & Sauce Mix with one cup of apple cider vinegar. Microwave on high for one minute or heat in a sauce pan to dissolve the sugars. Store in a tightly capped container in the refrigerator for up to three weeks. For a spicier sauce, try adding a teaspoon of crushed red pepper.
For a Western North Carolina BBQ sauce (aka Lexington Red BBQ sauce) follow the recipe above and stir in 1/2 cup of ketchup.
To make an Eastern North Carolina BBQ sauce you would need to take away the flavor of the above sauces and just mix hot peppers and vinegar (not recommended).
